An intense white, despite its lithe feel and silky texture. Shows lemon oil, peach, mineral and baking spice flavors that prevail, with a lingering finish, courtesy of lively acidity.
Presented with an ambitious level of oak, this wine’s bacon-fat scents put off some tasters. It won me over from the beginning, however, with its savory, dried-rose perfume, and a clean, craftsman-like structure that included not only oak tannins, but also firm grape tannins and finely integrated acidity.
Smells deeply delicious even before I have put it in my mouth – that lovely contrast between creamy/mealy and bright zesty citrus. Deep and creamy on the palate too with a hint of orange that I associate more often with Meursault. Deep and full but still tight and fresh. Great stuff.
Gentle wood surrounds aromas of white flowers, green apple and ripe pear along with an interesting hint of mint. The middle weight flavors possess fine concentration, volume, mid-palate fat and intensity before culminating in a dry, clean and relatively linear finish that displays a touch of youthful austerity. This is pretty and with reasonably good depth and length.
A bright, well-defined style, boasting citrus, spice, apple and mineral flavors. Exuberant and expressive, with a long, succulent finish. The aftertaste echoes lemon and baking spice notes.
