Wonderful nose of sour cherries that leaps out at you. Concentrated and sleek with plenty of fine tannins and a lot of energy, this powers across the palate. Dense and complex finish with some lovely spice.
Once again one of the highlights of the range, the 2019 Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru La Dominode (Domaine Louis Jadot) wafts from the glass with notes of cassis, plums, dark chocolate, loamy soil and spices. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered, it’s elegantly muscular, with fine depth and lively acids.
Fine delineation. The palate is well balanced with supple tannins, fine grip and edginess and a subtle white pepper and clove note toward the finish.
Austere and firm finish.
