The 2018 Côte de Nuits-Villages Le Vaucrain (Domaine Louis Jadot) opens in the glass with notes of sweet red berries and cherries mingled with hints of spices and orange rind. Medium to full-bodied, bright and tangy, with fine, chalky tannins and a nicely concentrated core of fruit, this is a serious effort that punches above its appellation weight
Soft wood influence is present on the decidedly earth and moderately sauvage nose of mostly wild red currant. The delicious, round and plump flavors that possess good punch on the rustic and serious but not austere finale.
The 2017 Côte de Nuits-Villages Le Vaucrain (Domaine Louis Jadot) is showing very well, wafting from the glass with notes of cherries, plums and cassis mingled with hints of potpourri and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, velvety and energetic, with lively acids, refined tannins and a pretty core of fruit.
A rich, black cherryflavored red, gaining support from tangy acidity and light tannins. Earth, tar and spice flavors add depth as this cruises to a fine finish.
Touches of oak and menthol are sufficiently subtle not to interfere with the various earth and dark berry fruit aromas. The supple and seductively textured middle weight flavors possess fine mid-palate concentration along with surprisingly good power on the serious and impressively long finish.
