Delicate in its scent of antique roses and earthy in its fragrant tannins—think rosehip and rose stem—this is finely structured and restrained, closed off behind its oak.
The palate is medium-bodied with edgy tannins, a fine bead of acidity and good precision on the finish. This punches above its weight. Recommended.
Generous wood fights a bit at present with the overtly spicy black pinot fruit, violet and sandalwood-scented nose. There is fine volume to the delicious middle weight flavors that possess a velvety and seductively textured mid-palate that largely buffers the firm tannic spine shaping the beautifully long finale. This is a very good Vosne villages.
A spicy nose consists of dark currant, violet and Asian-style tea nuances where a note of dried orange peel can be discerned. Similarly there is that lovely trait of inner mouth perfume to the velvety and caressing yet quite serious and muscular flavors that are borderline robust while delivering excellent length.
Very structured, as befits a Vosne-Romanée, even a village wine. The black cherry fruit and layered acidity are combined with a firm and dry tannic core. There is power here, and some aging potential.
