For all its depth and power, its finesse is what makes this wine memorable. Fresh, without a hint of fatigue, this Bonnes Mares is developing beautifully.
Liqueur-like aromas of plum, kirsch, rose petal and violet are trimmed by notes of oak and menthol. There is decidedly more volume, if decidedly less refinement, to the big-bodied and markedly powerful flavors that possess an abundance of sappy dry extract that imparts a lovely texture to the intensely structured, muscular and impressively persistent finale.
There is impressive volume to the succulent and seductively textured but imposingly scaled flavors that terminate in a firm and very serious finish that is very well-balanced.
This red is lush and boisterous, centering around voluptuous black cherry and blackberry fruit. It’s backed by a layer of beefy tannins and focused by its vibrant acidity. A mouthwatering finish, laced with earth and spice, lingers.
A supple blueberry beauty, this hides a deeper drive behind that puppy fat, the structure of a long-lived Burgundy revealing itself over the course of a week. Jadot’s 0.67-acre holding is all on the Chambolle side of the cru. A third of the vines are on Bonnes Mares’ terre brune, providing the wine’s coffee-ground concentration that turns toward a deep well of fruit. Floral elements emerge expressed in fruit from lighter terre blanche, higher up the hill. There’s a lively back and forth as the elements grow increasingly knit.
