An oaky version, this white delivers lemon and apple fruit, backed by lively acidity. Retains plenty of flesh midpalate for balance.

Revisited from bottle, the 2017 Puligny-Montrachet (Maison Louis Jadot) is showing well, revealing a pretty bouquet of fresh peach, orange oil, apricot, blanched almonds and a delicate patina of oak vanillin. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, delicately textural and precise, with a pretty core of fruit, lively acids and a fragrant finish.

This is clean, like spring water flowing over a bed of stones, with a whiff of that stoniness and damp moss edging the lemon curd flavors. Creamy and balanced, revealing a lingering aftertaste of citrus and pastry.

In a rich vintage like 2015, Puligny-Montrachet gives a wonderful broad, elegant and ripe expression of Chardonnay. In this wine, the balance is just right, both crisp and rounded with great citrus and white fruits.

This includes approximately 30% 1ers and it shows as this is notably finer and more elegant than the typical Puligny villages. The expressive and very pretty nose displays aromas of citrus, pear and acacia blossom. The middle weight flavors possess a refined and intense mouth feel on the clean, wonderfully precise, agreeably dry and solidly complex finale where a touch of minerality appears. This is a first-rate effort for its level and highly recommended.
