The 2021 Pouilly-Fuissé Les Ménétrières 1er Cru has a beautiful, expressive bouquet with yellow fruit, white linen and subtle limestone scents, showing fine delineation and beautifully integrated oak (as usual). The 2020 Pouilly-Fuissé Les Ménétrières 1er Cru, a blend of three parcels (marl, limestone, and clay soils intermixed), has the most complex bouquet amongst Ferret’s 2020s. Lovely chamomile and crushed stone scents, a touch of orange blossom, though still a little backward. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, taut and fresh, lemon verbena and a hint of stem ginger towards the persistent finish. Superb.

Unfurling in the glass with hints of pear, citrus oil, smoke, toasted nuts and white flowers, the 2019 Pouilly-Fuissé Hors-Classe Les Ménétrières is full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, with a textural attack that segues into a deep, concentrated core. Long and sapid, it’s the most powerful, muscular wine in the range.
