This deep ruby colored Vintage Port from Taylor Fladgate opens with a pecan and moist pipe tobacco bouquet with hints of spiced plum, nuts, and fig. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is bright, savory, and structured. The flavor profile is molasses, fermented cherry, and rum cake blend with hints of walnuts, licorice, fig, and spiced plum. The finish is dry and nicely extended. There is a little heat peeking through. The Tasting Panel would pair this Port with pecan pie and a cigar. Enjoy

Lots of intensity on the nose of blackberries, dried fruits, bark, mushroom and crushed stone. Full-bodied, medium-sweet with chewy velvety tannins. Just a baby now with so much to go, but approachable now at almost 20 years of age.

Very dark, opaque purple. The initially reticent nose shows dark berries, violet, and a hint of balsamic. Very flavorful with jammy black raspberry fruit enhanced by notes of bergamon, balsamic and bitter chocolate. This is a particularly vibrant, velvety Port from the 2017 vintage with racy acidity and generous, powdery tannins and an outstanding, extracted, spiced finish.

Closed and withdrawn on the nose at this stage with an underlying dusting of ripe tannins evident. Firm, sweet cassis and berry fruit, with classic dark chocolate intensity at the core, backed by broad yet tight-knit peppery tannins which lead to a big, grippy finish. Very fine with a hugely promising future ahead.

Already beautifully integrated, this is showing great purity and poise. It’s open and in its first bloom of youth, with lovely aromatic red berry fruit and floral aromas, plus a touch of leafiness. It’s soft and fleshy initially. Lovely full, ripe tannins mass in the mouth, well defined, with fresh berry fruit remerging on the broad, expansive finish.
