The 2020 Atemporal was produced with 60% Malbec, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot from Campo de los Andes in the Valle de Uco. It’s powerful and ripe without excess at 14.5% alcohol, reflecting the warmer year, which also had an effect on the quality of the tannins.

Some spiced strawberries and black cherries to the nose with a hint of tobacco and olives. Juicy and chewy on the palate with a fruity and spicy finish. A blend of malbec, cabernet sauvignon and petit verdot. Drink now.

In 1998, Patrick d’Aulan expanded his family’s wine horizons (they own Château Sansonnet in St-Emilion and Château Dereszla in Tokaj) and purchased his first vineyard in Mendoza. This wine comes from their Albaneve vineyard in the Uco Valley, where Didier Debono blends malbec (58 percent) with cabernet sauvignon and petit verdot. This 2019 is restrained, its faintly spicy tannins framing a distant core of crunchy red-plum flavors. Though petit verdot is a small portion of the blend, it contributes persistent, broad tannins, while potent acidity offers some brightness.

This midnight purple colored wine opens with a fragrant blackberry bouquet with hints of black currant and wet stone. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is round, bright, and zesty for a red. The flavor profile is a black currant and blackberry blend with notes of stone dust and spiced plum. I also detected some hints of purple jellybean. The finish is rather dry, and its dusty tannins and flavors are quite extended. I would pair this wine with a fork-tender pot roast. Enjoy – Ken

A suave blend, with a core of plum and cherry flavors, plus peppercorn and loam accents. This has lively mineral acidity keeping things going on to the finish, where tannic grip checks in. Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2032.
