A bold, firm white, with vivacious pink grapefruit zest and racy acidity enlivening star fruit, Gala apple, spun honey and minerally smoke and flint. Tightly meshed and mouthwatering, with a long, well-spiced finish.

The 2021 Riesling Brand Grand Cru is from granitic soils with much magnesium and potassium in the soil. It is harvested in five different lieu-dits, with Steinglitz the most important, followed by Weingarten and Schneckelsburg. The vines are 50-55 years old. Gentle flinty reduction allows lime zest to peek through. The palate adds tropical allure with slight notions of mango and little fillips of pineapple. The freshness is beautifully balanced and contoured with some pithy bitterness. Structured, trenchant and utterly mouth-watering with just about 4g/L of residual sweetness.

An exceptionally elegant and graceful Alsace dry riesling in spite of the concentrated fresh pineapple juiciness. The very silky palate goes on and on, delivering the most delicate nuances at the very long, weightless finish

The 2020 Riesling Brand is from vines planted in the 1950s (predominantly), 1970s and 1920s. Deep, pure, intense and flinty on the complex and refreshing mineral nose that also reveals perfectly ripe (tropical) fruit aromas (mango, passion fruit), this is a powerful, rich and saline Riesling with great intensity, power and compact but fine tannins. The finish is long, intense and salivating, but the aging potential is even greater.

From 68-year-old vines on a steep granite hillside in Turckheim, this south-facing parcel created a dry and austere, blunt young riesling in the heat of 2018. It’s nutty and yeasty, yet it finishes clean.
