Attractive dark plum and ripe, frozen blueberry characters on the nose follow through to a medium- to full-bodied palate with a fleshy blue fruit core and round tannins. Juicy and supple finish. Drink now.

I found the 2018 Grande Reserve Malbec too oaky for my taste, a little earthy too. It fermented for 25 days, and 75% of the volume matured in 600-liter oak barrels for nine months. It has moderate ripeness, 13.5% alcohol and mellow acidity and freshness. It comes through as a little rustic with abundant dusty tannins.

Aromas of dark berries, blueberries, tinder and dried thyme. Medium-bodied with chewy tannins and bright acidity. Balanced, with a creamy array of blue and purple fruit and a solid, firm finish.

Blackberry, blueberry, lavender and citrus zest on the nose. It’s medium-to full-bodied with creamy tannins and a plush, polished palate. Bright finish.

This Malbec from Maule, Chile is a slightly hazy deep purple color. It has flavors of plum and red berries, with some green herbs and light clove accents. There are gentle, fine grained tannins in the lingering finish with some remaining clove notes.
