Notes of pear, peaches, toasted bread and honeycomb introduce the 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Grande Montagne (Maison Louis Jadot), a medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy wine that’s round and open-knit, though it concludes with enlivening back-end grip.
The 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet La Grande Montagne Premier Cru has a light apple blossom bouquet, nicely defined touches of nectarine and a background note of mint emerging with aeration. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity. Good weight and tension and a lightly spiced finish. This is a thoroughly enjoyable and well-crafted Chassagne.
Soaring from the glass with expressive aromas of pear, orange oil, white flowers and wheat toast, the 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Grande Montagne (Maison Louis Jadot) is medium to full-bodied, satiny and textural, with an open-knit but succulent and nicely defined profile.
The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet La Grande Montagne 1er Cru is clearly a step up from the Village Cru, offering attractive, mineral-rich citrus fruit scents that pick up orange pith and tangerine aromas in the glass. The palate is well balanced with impressive weight and tension, a subtle spicy note on the back palate and upfront orange zest and marmalade notes completing the finish. This is a very fine Chassagne-Montrachet from a vineyard that was advantaged by its location on the upper slopes.
This offers an array of wet-stone and chalky aromas with young peaches and flecks of yellow citrus. The palate has a smooth array of fleshy, supple peaches, closing with gently spicy notes and hazelnuts.
