Pure and elegant, this enticing red draws you in with fresh cherry, raspberry, floral and spice aromas and flavors. Lithe and beautifully defined, picking up details of mineral and black pepper as this winds down effortlessly on the long-lasting finish. Hard to resist enjoying this now.
A much spicier if less earthy nose is more deeply pitched with its aromas of poached plum, exotic tea, black cherry and a whiff of sandalwood. The round, supple and surprisingly forward mid-palate of the medium-bodied flavors contrasts immediately with the very firm, markedly powerful and moderately austere finish. This too is excellent.
An exuberantly spicy nose is composed almost exclusively of various ripe dark berries and exotic tea scents. The refined middle weight flavors flash good power and vibrancy on the dusty, complex and solidly persistent finish.
The 2018 Echézeaux Grand Cru (Domaine Louis Jadot) has turned out beautifully in bottle, wafting from the glass with aromas of wild berries, cassis, rich spices and potpourri—much as it did from barrel— and framed by a classy touch of new oak. Full-bodied, velvety and supple, it’s sumptuous and enveloping, with beautifully refined tannins, succulent acids and a broad, expansive finish. Beautifully balanced.
The 2019 Echézeaux Grand Cru (Domaine Louis Jadot) is very promising, exhibiting incipiently complex aromas of raspberries, cassis, candied peel, burning embers and potpourri, followed by a medium to full-bodied, charming and vibrant palate that’s broad and enveloping, with lively acids and fine, powdery structuring tannins.
