I love the fragrant aromas of red fruits, candied orange peel and wet earth of this impressive Gevrey-Chambertin. Ripe in the 2021 context, but with the typical delicacy of the vintage. Long, well-structured, yet elegant finish. From a parcel just above the Clos Saint-Jacques.

The expansive nose of fresh black cherry and dry earth leads you into this very compact and concentrated Gevrey-Chambertin, which has the scale and gravitas of a Grand Cru, as well as massive tannin structure. This youthful form might be too much for some, but if you have a little patience, this is going to be a magnificent drinking experience. From organically grown grapes. Drinkable now, but best from 2025.

This too is quite aromatically cool and even more elegant with its spicier array of red currant and discreet newly turned earth scents. The almost delicate mouthfeel is highly appealing, all wrapped in a youthfully austere and markedly stony finale.

Opening in the glass with notes of cherries, red berries, orange rind, peonies and vanilla pod, the 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Estournelles Saint-Jacques (Domaine Louis Jadot) is medium to full-bodied, sumptuous and enveloping, with velvety tannins and a vibrant, lively core of fruit.
