Il Pino di Biserno reflects the unique terroir of Bibbona, a blend of grapes which truly reflects a classic Alta Maremma wine, clearly a younger sibling of the eponymous Biserno. This, through rigorous selection of young vine grapes, is a fine ambassador for this estate, vintage after vintage, offering a harmonious, seductive style, Accessible and early-drinking, Il Pino reveals the potential character, finesse and elegance, of the property. The blend of Il Pino di Biserno consists of: Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and in some vintages Cabernet Sauvignon.

Harvest Note
2016 can be considered a vintage with great potential on the Tuscan coast in general and for Tenuta di Biserno and Campo di Sasso in particular. It was a warmer than normal winter but a cooler than normal spring with frequent rainfalls well into June. The growth was balanced and the vines were well prepared for the warm and dry July and August and did not suffer any excessive water deficit stress. Ripening was also balanced and the relatively cool nights in August helped retain fresh fruit aromas and flavors.
Tasting Note
Intense nose with ripe fruit and some spicy notes. The oak is well integrated and adds complexity and balance to the fruit. Medium to full bodied with ripe tannins, a fine acidity and great length. The wine is very young at release in September 2018 and has all the components to develop beautifully in the next few years.
Food Pairing
Pair with roast measts, particulary beef, wheter it be filet de sirloin or Tuscan T-bone

About the Grape

Cabernet Franc
Cabernet Franc usually shows tart red cherry and wild currant aromas and flavors with an herbal, spicy character. In the Loire, esp. Chinon and Saumur-Champigny, this grape shows firm minerality.
Cabernet Sauvignon
Cabernet Sauvignon is adaptable to various growing conditions, and is known for its low yield and late ripeness. It generally produces full-bodied wines with substantial acidity and tannins.
Merlot
Merlot makes plump, succulent wines to drink young or opulently massive wines for aging. Has silky, blackberry and currant fruit, with spice, earth, tobacco and chocolate notes, and soft tannins.
Petit Verdot
Petit Verdot makes a dark, firmly structured, tannic wine with superbly balancing acidity, and fresh, full flavors and aromas of spice, pepper and black fruits with notes of violets.
