Collio is Friuli’s finest area of production and the Pighin Collio estate is ranked among the top five in the region with its southern-exposed, low-yielding vineyards on deep sandstone soils. The grapes for all of Pighin’s wines are handpicked and pressed in state-of-the-art pneumatic presses. The must is fermented and matured in stainless steel vats (no oak is used), allowing the characteristics of the grape variety to show beautifully.

Harvest Note
The season began with a rainy winter and the persistence of low temperatures until the end of March, delaying the early budding of the past years. During the month of April, thanks to increasing temperatures, budding was simply exceptional. In June and July, the area saw heavy rains, alternating with sunny and dry days of optimal temperatures. Thanks to this excellent climatic performance, the maturation of the grapes was wonderful. The harvest of the grapes began on August 21st. The perfect health and sugar concentrations have simplified the vinification process. The wines are very expressive on both the nose and palate. To conclude, the 2018 will be remembered as a very good vintage.

Dry, excellent body, balanced with an elegant aromatic varietal length.

Pleasant aperitif, with seafood appetizers, grilled fish, excellent with white meats accompanied by sweet sauces.
