The vineyards that produce the grapes for our Montes Limited Selection Pinot Noir are located in the Casablanca, Leyda and Zapallar Valleys, all of which can be found in the Aconcagua Wine Region. The grapes were handpicked into 22 – 26 lbs trays during the very early hours of the morning to keep the temperatures low and protect the aromas. Upon arriving at the winery, the bunches were carefully selected, destemmed, and submitted to a second selection of the berries. The grapes were gently dropped directly into open-top stainless steel tanks, where the whole berries underwent a 5-day pre-fermentation maceration at 45º F to very gently extract color and aromas.

Harvest Note
The 2015–2016 season was rather peculiar. It was normal to good in terms of the availability of water, and there was an optimal amount of moisture in the soil at the time of flowering. Rainfall was very sporadic, but significant in terms of volume and intensity, which affected fruiting in the areas in which the rains coincided with flowering in mid-November. The summer was not very hot and only registered a few peaks in January and February, but overall, the temperatures were below the historic average, especially in March, which registered an average temperature that was 36º F lower than in 2015. This affected the maturation, especially in the red varieties, and resulted in ripening at least 12 days later in the season than they did in the previous year. This deceleration in ripening gave us the time and opportunity to taste the grapes more thoroughly than in past years, which in turn allowed us better precision with respect to the optimal maturity level when the grape skins expressed their maximum aromatic potential and reached the correct sugar and acidity parameters. The fruit arrived with very good quality, with fewer but bigger berries per bunch than in the previous year.
Tasting Note
Vibrant ruby red in color with an expressive nose featuring aromas of tart cherries, fresh strawberries, and a backdrop of rose petals and wild herbs. The palate is well balanced with rich natural acidity that makes this a fresh and juicy wine. Its perfectly rounded tannins give this wine medium volume and good persistence with an elegant, fruity finish.
Food Pairing
Highly recommended with fettuccine Alfredo, mild, cream soups (mushroom, chicken), veal cutlets, salmon, Camembert cheese, and mushroom risotto.
