This wine originating from a Domaine vineyard in Serignan-du-Comtat, north of Orange and Avignon. The 30+ year old vineyard combines all the traditional grape varietals for the Southern Rhône Valley: Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre. The vines are planted in soils deep in calcareous sandstones with very little clay that are well sited on gently undulating slopes. The grapes are manually harvested immediately whent he grapes hit maturity with the grapes sorted on tables. Co-fermentation of the 3 vines occurs in vats for a long maceration, about 3 weeks. The extraction is done by soft methods in order to respect the fruit and tannic quality. Aged in stainless steel vats on fine lees for 9 months until bottling.

2017 vintage
Harvest Note
The 2017 vintage was exceptional in many aspects: remarkable weather records led to an early and small harvest with outstanding quality. A mild and dry winter with high temperatures in February and March led to a very early bud break. Mid-May temperatures went back to above the normal temperature range thus the vine began to grow very quickly with imminent flowering. The very hot and dry weather conditions observed since the beginning of summer accelerated the ripening of the grapes. Starting at the end of May, weather conditions were conducive to a good harvest. The very specific terroir of Les Cassagnes adapted particularly well to the persistent drought that came with 2017 creating a very expressive Southern Rhône Grenache-Syrah-Mourvèdre blend.
Tasting Note
In appearance, deep garnet with a purple border. On the nose, intense red fruits with some black cherry notes. Very aromatic and explosive. On the palate, a very concentrated red wine, full of ripe tannins, with rich scents of black and red berries. Fresh, silky texture on the finish. Drink now to 2025.
Food Pairing
Enjoy with grilled, roasted or stewed meats. In addition, this wine is perfect with pizza, Asian dishes and both soft and hard cheeses.
