The Lote Single Vineyard series includes three Malbecs that have been selected as representations of the terroir and distinctive features of the vineyards from the three estates of Bodega Norton in Mendoza: Lunlunta, Finca La Colonia and Agrelo, which are each located at the foot of the Andes Mountains. With this exclusive high-end line, Norton focuses on its estates and the origin of the grapes as a key factor of the wine quality to grant consumers a sensory experience: the chance to enjoy the qualities of each terroir and compare them. As a selection of wines made from the vineyard, the winemakers' challenge is to get the best grapes from the best vineyards of the winery. Agrelo is well known for producing Malbec with structural personality and aromatic character. The Agrelo vineyard features a deep silt-loam soil of alluvial origin, typical of the region.

Harvest Note

The 2017 growing season in Mendoza featured very low yields but very good quality from the grapes that were harvested. The season began with a very cool spring which brought some frosts in September and October. January brought considerably warmer temperatures before returning to historically average temperatures in February and March. The dry summer growing season brought optimal ripeness to the red varietals, which were harvested from early March to mid-April. The wines show good balance between maturity, ripeness, and acidity.

Tasting Note

Intense and dark ruby red color. With intense fruit aromas, such as blackberries ad raspberries, combined with a subtle spiced note. It is a wine with great structure, which is granted by the intense fruit and spiced character leading to an outstanding and lingering finish.

Malbec

Well-made Malbec is a dark, perfumed wine with rich, blackberry and damson plum fruit, aromas of violets and tobacco, and ripe, juicy tannins. In France, may be mineral, structured and austere.
