Great wines are made from the grapes of unique places. Alta Vista’s 516 acres of estate vineyards are among the best terroirs of Mendoza, at 3,200 feet elevation and higher. Work performed on every vineyard is tailored to each grape variety via specific treatments called Terroir Management®. Estate Cabernet Sauvignon completes a short pre-fermentation maceration to enhance optimal color and aromas while avoiding the extraction of harsh tannins. A 10-day post-fermentation maceration enhances structure and round tannins. Half the wine is aged for 12 months in 100% French oak barrels, before an additional 6 months in bottle.

Harvest Note
2016 was an atypical vintage for Mendoza because it was affected by sanitary pressure, frequent rains, and humidity, similar to the last two vintages. Wine alcohol content is lower and acidity is higher than usual. The wines general balance is good and not as ripe as usual. As a consequence, wines are fresh with intense aromas. Wine concentration is normal, but a long and fruity finish is found thanks to the great balance between alcohol and acidity. Our style is printed in the last vintages, with good acidity and lower alcohol levels. Elegance seems to be the main characteristic of 2016 vintage.
Tasting Note
Red color with violet and ruby hues. It is complex and intense in the nose, with hints of herbs -characteristic of this variety- and reminiscent of green bell pepper. In mouth, it has structure and the typical tannin concentration of Cabernet grapes coexisting in perfect harmony with the tannins of the oak.
Food Pairing
Lamb curry and other spicy dishes. Game. Roast red pepper and mixed vegetables. Meat empanadas.
