Grapes: 100% Sangiovese
An approachable and young wine that expresses the tipicity of Sangiovese from Montalcino. A brilliant red for an easy Italian way of life. Fresh, pure and clean on the palate with a pleasant fruitiness. We are producing this wine with grapes from various vineyards located in Montalcino with North-West and South-East exposure at approximately 300 m. a.s.l. and composed of marl and marly-sandy formations.Vines are planted using training system of spurred cordon with 5,200 plants per hectar. Harvest is conducted manuallly into cases in last week of September. The juice is fermented for at least 15 days at a controlled temperature of 28 degrees celcius. After maceration the wine is matured in new and used casks of various size for 6 months followed by bottle aging.
The 2016 harvest was a winemakers dream in terms of quality. Quantity however was down from the previous season due to a rough growing season. The season saw cooler then average temperatures that led to a slight reduction in yields. This was followed by a very warm and dry summer - with only one rainfall in August to help the vines. Harvesting began in the beginning of October and the resulting wines have wonderful flavors with exceptional profiles.
Intense ruby red color. Clean at the nose, characterized by ripe, fruity notes, enriched by hints of spices. On the palate it is smooth, full and warm, with present but integrated tannins. Good persistence.
Pairs well with red meat, pasta with meat sauce, & cheese.
