Grapes: 100% Sangiovese
Tenute Silvio Nardi’s classic Brunello is a blend of the finest grapes from the Manachiara and Casale del Bosco estates. Silvio Nardi follows the strict DOCG laws required of a classified Brunello di Montalcino. Yield is limited; only the top 70% of the grapes is used to make the wine. The fruit is carefully handpicked and sorted. Fermentation and maceration takes at least 24 days (varies with parcel) at controlled temperature of less than 86°F. Aged for 12 months in new and used French oak barriques (Allier) before 18 months in large Slavonian oak barrels. Bottle aged at least 12 months before release.
Tuscan Vines2012 vintage
2012 was beyond a doubt a vintage with excellent maturing and aging potential. After a rather cold winter, spring was relatively warm, in keeping with normal trends. The vegetative period started during the second half of April, as expected. Summer was very hot, with scarce rainfalls. The rainfalls in late summer and early September restored the balance and created the best conditions for the most important ripening phase of the Sangiovese grapes. The grapes achieved optimal characteristics, both in terms of health and analytical parameters. The month of September was very good from a meteorological standpoint. Acidity was optimal, and extractable polyphenols were in high quantity and well balanced.
Intense, ruby red colour with garnet highlights. Clean, elegant, intense and complex aromas on the nose, rich in etherela notes, with vivid ripe and black berries together with spicy hints. Smooth and round at the palate, with velvety tannins and great body, good persistence and excellent ageing capacity
Pair with thick porterhouse steak or rich fish such as sturgeon or grouper.
