Comtes de Champagne Rosé 2004
Region:
France
/ Champagne
Grapes: 70% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay
The Comtes Rosé is made from 100% Grand Cru grapes and produced only in exceptional years. The Chardonnay grapes come from the most renowned vineyards of the prestigious Côte des Blancs, and the Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims. Only juice from the first pressing is used in order to ensure the structure and long aging potential that is so essential to this exceptional Champagne. 12% of the Pinot Noir is blended in as still red wine.

2004 vintageharvest note
Despite its unremarkable weather conditions, 2004 was an exuberant vintage. The winter was chilly but with no period of intense cold, and the spring that followed was pleasant, with low rainfall. A long flowering period began in mid-June and was followed by a mild, dry summer with weak sunshine. During mid-August, a beneficial period of rain lasted until the beginning of September, when the return of the sun and heat favored ripening and resulted in an excellent-quality grape harvest that proved to be one of the most abundant in Champagne’s history.
tasting note
This Champagne features extraordinarily delicate bubbles and a fresh, highly refined nose with complex aromas of wild strawberries, morello cherries and black currants with hints of fresh almonds and licorice. On the palate, the initial fruitiness quickly intensifies and leads into a rich, structured midpalate and a generous finish that maintains balance and freshness.
food pairing
A suitable accompaniment to light cured meats, veal, lamb dishes and ribs as well as fruit salad and berry desserts.
