Cerequio Barolo DOCG 2016

Cerequio Barolo DOCG 2016 play

Certified Sustainable, Organic or Biodynamic Green Certified

Region: Italy / Piedmont / Barolo
Grapes: 100% Nebbiolo

The Cerequio vineyard’s soil composition and especially mild climate are qualities that make it one of the most prestigious crus of the Langhe. Rigorously selected grapes for this auspicious bottling come from an area called the “balcony of the Langhe,” situated at 1,200 feet in elevation within the La Morra commune. With tortonian calcareous Sant’Agata marl, the soils have a bluish color due to the high content of magnesium and manganese. In the cellar, high-temperature fermentation on the skins is followed by aging in 700-liter oak tonneaux and then in bottle before release.

harvest note

The 2016 vintage will long be remembered for its rare qualitative excellence. The harvest period has seen climatic conditions that have followed the standards of seasons, without presenting any weather anomaly, allowing the exceptionally healthy grapes to reach perfect and uniform maturation, in accordance to the usual time periods. An adequate thinning of the bunches during the last 40 days, resulting in an excellent maturation that has also enjoyed sunny days and cool nights. Harvest has taken place according to standard time (6-12th of October). An outstanding vintage endowed with great structure, complex flavors and remarkable longevity.

tasting note

The color is ruby red with garnet hints. Great character and complex notes of mature fruit, mint, eucaluptus and fine spices on the nose. The palate is rich in structure with a weave of fine tannins, standing out for its elegance and harmony, which highlights this truly unique Barolo cru.

food pairing

Great pairings for this wine are red meat dishes, game and ripe, hard cheeses.
