Riesling Brand Grand Cru, Vendange Tardive, Vielles Vignes

Riesling Brand Grand Cru, Vendange Tardive, Vielles Vignes

Certified Sustainable, Organic or Biodynamic Green Certified

Region: France / Alsace
Grapes: 100% Riesling

This Vendange Tardive originates mostly from the Schnekelsbourg section on the east side of Brand Grand Cru Vineyard. Here, there is a layer of marl and calcareous deposit deep enough that it can only be reached by old vines. The Brand/Schnekelsbourg is often slightly more powerful and develops more noble rot while maintaining the capacity to retain strong acidity. Zind-Humbrecht's dedication to terroir expression guides all winemaking practices, which include extended pressing cycles, abbreviated clarification cycles (to retain natural yeasts and proteins in the must), natural malolactic fermentation and extended aging on the lees. The wine is aged 24-36 months in 40-year-old French barrels.

tasting note

The pure, elegant nose expresses strong minerality with wet stone aromas along with white flowers. The palate is firm and tightly structured by racy acidity which provides a beautiful balance to the sweetness.
