Villa Matilde is known for producing premium quality classic Campania wines. Founded in 1961 by Francesco Avallone, the estate is recognized as a pioneer in the region for having revived the ancient Falerno varietals, wiped out by phylloxera in the late 1800s. Avallone’s team developed 20 original, premium clones of Falanghina, Aglianico and Piedirosso in 1965, and Villa Matilde’s first official vintage was released in 1976. Over its 57-year history, the winery has committed to producing quality wines while having a low impact on the environment. Today, the estate produces zero greenhouse gas emissions and is 100 percent estate grown and bottled. The result is a portfolio of wines that is internationally recognized for outstanding quality.

Villa Matilde has two production facilities, one in the Falerno appellation and the other in the prestigious Irpinia DOCG of Taurasi, Fiano di Avellino, and Greco di Tufo. The winery also has four estate vineyards; Parco Nuovo and San Castrese in Caserta, Rocca dei Leoni in Benevento, and Altavilla in the Province of Avellino.
