This dark garnet colored Cabernet Sauvignon based blend from Tenuta San Guido is a classic Italian styled wine. It opens with a musty cedar, cinnamon, and clove blend with hints of red cherry and menthol. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round and supple. There is also some nice tension as well. The flavor profile is a cedar influenced tart cherry with notes of loam, black tea, and black olive. I also detected some hints of cinnamon stick, crispy bacon, and tobacco leaf towards the very end. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity and managed moderate tannins are nicely sustained
A well-crafted, poised and textural blend of 40% grenache, 30% syrah, 15% mourvedre and 15% cinsault. Aromas of cherries, raspberries, strawberries and baking spices. Medium-bodied with fine tannins. It’s fruit-driven with a bright core of small red berries at the center. Spicy and vivid with good balance and a long, lively, flavorful finish. From organically grown grapes
A well-balanced, supple and aromatic blend of 44% roussanne, 41% grenache blanc, 11% clairette and 4% bourboulenc. This shows notes of dried lemons, spiced apples, blanched almonds, honeysuckle and sweet spices. It’s medium-bodied with a delicate character. Silky and poised with a flavorful finish. A focused, dense and well-composed blend of 40% grenache, 40% mourvedre and 20% syrah. Aromas of red berries, spiced cherries, dried herbs, tobacco and burnt leaves. It’s full-bodied with plush tannins. It’s polished and plain, with a dense core of juicy berries mingling with the spices. Well structured with a long, well-driven finish. A well-built, round and textured red made of 40% grenache, 35% syrah, 20% mourvedre and 5% cinsault. Medium- to full-bodied with finely grained tannins. It’s velvety, yet it has plenty of intensity, with a constant kick of peppercorns throughout. Ample but focused with a caressing texture and a deliciously fruity finish.
