Tenuta La Fuga

Terroir & Vineyards

The La Fuga estate is situated at an altitude of 1,200 feet in an area of the Montalcino appellation considered to be among the finest. The mesoclimate is unique in that it yields wines with an exceptional balance between finesse and firm, supple structure. Brunello di Montalcino vineyards are sheltered by Mount Amiata and aerated by the dry breezes from the sea across the hills to the west.

Of the estate's 75 acres, 25 acres are planted to vines and the rest support olive orchards. The vineyards are registered under two appellations, with 16.25 acres classified for Brunello di Montalcino and 4.37 acres classified for each of Rosso di Montalcino and IGT Toscana. The vineyards are managed using modern growing methods, including dense planting (1,600 to 2,200 vines per acre) and careful clonal research.
