Tenuta di Nozzole's Vigneto La Forra single-vineyard wine bears the distinguished new Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG classification as of the 2011 vintage.
Did You Know
A new classification representing the highest level of quality for Chianti Classico DOCG has been introduced called Gran Selezione. To achieve this classification, wines from the Chianti Classico DOCG appellation must be produced solely from estate-grown grapes and can be sold no sooner than 30 months after harvest, with a minimum of three months’ bottle age.
Brought about through the efforts of the 600-member Chianti Classico consortium, this change represents the first time that Italian wine legislation has permitted introduction of a new classification at the top of an appellation’s quality pyramid.
