The Folonari Story

The Folonari family began making wine in Tuscany in the 1700s. Today, Ambrogio Folonari and his son Giovanni are counted among Tuscany’s top winemakers, presiding over estates in each of Tuscany’s primary areas of production.

Until 2000, the extended Folonari family owned the primary Nozzole and Ruffino brands as well as some smaller estates in Tuscany. In that year, the family redefined its company structure, subdividing the estate vineyards and reapportioning brands to create two new entities, of which Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari Tenute is one. The father and son are dedicated to producing distinctive, small production wines on new properties they have developed in addition to existing estates, creating a group of estates that is among the most prestigious and respected in Italy. Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari Tenute includes Tenuta di Nozzole, Tenuta del Cabreo, Tenuta Campo al Mare, Tenuta la Fuga, TorCalvano, Spalletti and Santa Martina.
