Wild Rock

Elevation Sauvignon Blanc 2009

Certified Sustainable, Organic or Biodynamic Green Certified

Region: New Zealand / Marlborough
Grapes: 93% Sauvignon Blanc, 4% Riesling, 3% Viognier

This distinctive Sauvignon Blanc comes from sustainably grown parcels of classic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc seasoned lightly with Viognier and Riesling. Picked at optimal ripeness, each variety is harvested and fermented separately. Grapes are destemmed and the free-run juice undergoes cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks followed by three months of aging on the lees to provide body and complexity before blending, fining, filtering and bottling.

harvest note

2009 was similar to 2007 and 2008—conducive to making quality, ripe wines, especially in Marlborough. Typically sunny summers and long autumns combined with cool morning temperatures ensured consistent ripening with balanced acidity. Low yields helped to guarantee quality.

tasting note

The wine has aromas of fresh lime juice, stone fruits, and sweet herbs with spice notes. On the palate, lime, nectarine, grapefruit, floral and apple flavors are rich and rounded with bright citrus-edged acidity leading to a clean, dry finish.

food pairing

This wine is a great aperitif and pairs well with fresh green salads and seafood.
