Le Madri Roero Arneis DOCG 2017 play

Region: Italy / Piedmont / Roero
Grapes: 100% Arneis

The Arneis grapes come from Roero, a small hillside area on the left bank of the Tanaro River, directly across from the Barbaresco zone on the right bank. The soil is rich in calcareous marl and sand with traces of clay. Fruit is hand harvested and soft pressed, then undergoes controlled temperature fermentation to maintain the grapes’ fragrance.

harvest note

2017 began with a substantial amount of snow in January and February, followed by a lot of rain until the end of May. This ensured that the ground captured enough water for the fruit to ripen. High temperatures emerged in June, July and August but luckily caused no damage to the vines. On the contrary, both the fruit vines look great. The biggest problem in 2017 was not the heat, but the frost in the middle of April. While some quantities are down this year, quality has not suffered and 2017 will be a wonderful vintage.

tasting note

This straw-yellow wine has intense aromas of white flowers, mint and apricot. On the palate it is fresh and elegant, with a silky texture and fine acidity.

food pairing

Pairs well with vegetable based risotto and pasta, shell fish and fish.
