Sauvignon Blanc 2016
Grapes: 100% Sauvignon Blanc
The source of Infamous Goose Sauvignon Blanc is Marlborough’s Wairau River Valley, where stony, sandy loam topsoil covers deep layers of free-draining shingle. This low-fertility soil reduces vigor, yielding lush, aromatic, ripe fruit. The grapes are picked at optimal ripeness, destemmed, and the free-run juice is cool-fermented in stainless steel tanks. Three months of aging on the lees and in stainless steel tanks provides body and complexity to the wine, before blending, fining, filtering and bottling.

With strong El Nino weather conditions predicted for the 2015/2016 growing season, many feared the worst for the 2016 harvest. However, the relatively mild conditions across the spring, followed by warm rains in January resulted in the largest berry weights on record for Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc at harvest time. Without the usual high diurnal temperature range, acids fell as sugars accumulated slowly and the harvest was completed by early April.
Pale lemon straw with green hue. Fresh aromas of white peach, fresh green herbs, blackcurrant bush and wet river stones. A lovely rich fruit core of citrus and apple is balanced with fine acidity for a soft yet pleasantly dry finish.
Fresh white fish, shellfish, salads and white meats.
