Grapes: Grenache Noir, Clairette, Cinsault, Mourvèdre, Syrah, Bourboulenc, Picpoul
Grapes are handpicked from Château d’Aquéria’s own vineyards, which span 163 acres across the sandy slopes of Tavel. The mesoclimate is ideal for cultivating Grenache and crafting crisp, fresh rosé wines. Using its cutting-edge weather station located in the heart of the vineyards, Château d’Aquéria precisely monitors weather conditions and adjusts vineyard practices accordingly. The grapes are hand harvested and destemmed, followed by a maceration of 12 to 36 hours to extract color. The grapes are then pressed and each variety is vinified separately, undergoing temperature-controlled maceration and fermentation in stainless steel vats. The wines see no malolactic fermentation and no oak contact, but spend six months on the lees in stainless steel. The winemaker assembles an initial blend in November and then a second blending takes place in January before bottling.

In a year when many regions of France suffered from disastrous weather conditions, the southern Rhône Valley was particularly fortunate to have perfect conditions for an outstanding vintage. After a rainy autumn which restored ground water reserves, the winter was mild, sunny and dry, contributing to an excellent start to the growing season. The vines flowered nicely and healthy, abundant clusters developed. The summer was hot and dry, with large temperature variations between day and night, conducive to maturation of the polyphenols. Finally, rainfall in September contributed to the exceptional quality of the 2016 vintage, producing wines of outstanding structure and balance. Without a doubt, one of the very best vintages ever produced.
Wonderfully structured with red fruit aromas and notes of spice. Great fullness, fleshy and round with our signature lingering, fresh finish, the expression of our greatest terroirs.
Delicious with Lamb curry, poultry in cream sauce, bouillabaisse, paella, Asian cuisine, goat cheeses.
