Grande Reserve Malbec 2013
/ Central Valley
/ DO Maule
Grapes: 100% Malbec
French expertise combines with Chilean soil and history to give this Malbec purity and balance, with complexity, depth and concentration, owed to the old vines. 60 year old vines benefit from stark diurnal temperature variations yield the superb quality grapes for this wine. Primary fermentation was performed in 28 days with long maceration in small cement tanks. Aged in French oak for 9 months. The wine was not filtered nor clarified prior to bottling in order to preserve the wine's authentic character.
Wine Spectator2013 vintage
Wine Enthusiast2013 vintage
2013 was a cool, fresh year, with high rainfall during the vegetative cycle (103 mm from September to March) compared with 25 mm in 2012. The resulting wines are more fresh, with notes of red fruits and floral hints. The tannins are more firm and the acidity is generally higher, giving the wines a much longer and persistent finish.
Intense, lively ruby dark color. Aromas of raspberry and Morello cherry with floral notes introduce a complex palate with well rounded tannins and great balance. The finish is intense and very long.
Grilled beef, chicken, pork.

about the grape +
Well-made Malbec is a dark, perfumed wine with rich, blackberry and damson plum fruit, aromas of violets and tobacco, and ripe, juicy tannins. In France, may be mineral, structured and austere.
– Didier Debono & Patrick d’Aulan
“It is our great privilege to craft wine from these century-old Malbec vines, which is like composing a symphony.”
