Taita

Region: Chile / Colchagua Valley

The vineyards destined for Taita are located at our Finca de El Arcángel in the Marchigüe area, 17.4 miles from the Pacific Ocean. Like a large percentage of Chilean soils, those in Marchigüe are of granitic origin with different levels of decomposition that vary by sector. Some have high clay content and moderate depths, and others are shallower with less clay, more silt, and more rocks. The area destined for Taita are influenced by glacial action during the formation of the soil, evidence of which are the typical angular stones left by passing glaciers in combination with the round stones that result from the action of water running over the surface. The Taita vineyards are dry farmed, which means we do not irrigate the plants. They are managed naturally and therefore the vines have fewer bunches with smaller and more concentrated grapes.

tasting note

Very deep garnet-red in color. The perfumed, complex nose exhibits a wide range of ripe red- and black-fruit aromas along with interesting spice notes intermingled with delicate toast and leather fragrances, with an outstandingly elegant note of crème de cassis on the backdrop. The palate is exuberant and corpulent with round, well-structured tannins that lend breadth, sweetness, and a remarkably long finish.

food pairing

Pairs well with red meat, lamb, and cheeses.
