Linie Aquavit has been Norway’s most prestigious and exclusive aquavit for over 200 years. In 1805, a ship built by Catharina Lysholm set sail for the East Indies with a shipment of aquavit for sale. Two years later, five unsold casks returned to Norway having faced the treacherous ocean seas for a second time. Upon their return, it was discovered that this well-traveled aquavit was increasingly smooth and flavorful . . . Linie Aquavit had been born.
Linie Aquavit still crosses the equator line twice, aptly earning its name. Each month new consignments of old oak sherry casks embark upon a four-month journey, taking them to 35 countries across the globe during the voyage. This unusual maturation process creates a remarkably smooth and complex aquavit. On the back label you will find a unique code containing the date of the cask’s departure, the date it returned after crossing the equator twice, and the name of the ship.

Signature Cocktail: Linie Cranberry
- 1.5 ounces Linie Aquavit
- .75 ounce lime syrup (such as Rose’s)
- Cranberry juice
Combine aquavit and syrup in an ice-filled Collins glass. Top with cranberry juice.
tasting note
Linie has a rich, smooth profile with notes of aniseed and caraway. Matured in old sherry casks, it also has slight notes of oak and a kiss of sherry, adding complexity.
