Te Muna Road Vineyard Pinot Noir

Certified Sustainable, Organic or Biodynamic Green Certified

Region: New Zealand / Martinborough

In the cool-climate region of Martinborough, the 81.5 acres terraced Te Muna Road Vineyard is planted with eight clones of Pinot Noir in more than 40 different parcels. On the vineyard’s two distinct terraces, stony soils produce exceptional Pinot Noir. Grapes are hand harvested and destemmed before undergoing fermentation in open-top oak tanks. The wine matures on the lees in oak barriques before bottling.

tasting note

This dense yet elegant wine offers black fruit, floral and spice aromas and flavors. The palate is silkily structured with layered fine tannins, culminating in a finish that gradually unwinds, revealing bright red berry and violets.

food pairing

Delicious with poultry, lamb and mushrooms.

points of distinction

  • The grapes come from a distinct vineyard terrace with old, stony soils and a higher location that produces superlative Pinot Noir
  • The higher-elevation Te Muna Road Vineyard is harvested about a week later than sites in nearby Martinborough. The grapes have greater freshness and acidity
  • This single-vineyard Pinot Noir has great complexity, subtle fruit, and very good length in the mouth

I am fortunate to lead an extraordinary group of people who want to be part of creating something truly magnificent that successive generations can admire and enjoy for years to come. I love our great estates and feel a strong connection to their complexities and subtleties.
