Martinborough Pinot Noir

Region: New Zealand / Martinborough

The grapes of this Pinot Noir are 100% hand-harvested from selected blocks at our Estate-owned Te Muna Road Vineyard, one of the most prestigious growing sites within the Martinborough region of New Zealand. The grapes are destemmed (85%) prior to whole-bunch fermentation in a combination of open top stainless steel tanks and French oak cuvees using indigenous yeasts. The wine ages nine months in French oak barriques, 7% new, before being fined, course filtered and bottled.

tasting note

This versatile Pinot pairs well with a wide variety of cuisines. Sip alongside everyday favorites like BBQ pizza, spring or egg rolls, fried calamari and chicken quesadillas. Enjoy with traditional meals of roasted or grilled duck, chicken and pork, or Asian style preparations of seared tuna and salmon. Whether you’re munching on Kung Pao Chicken or Chicken Kiev, Cajun Jambalaya or Seafood Cioppino, this balanced Pinot Noir promises to be a wonderful accompaniment.

food pairing

This wine pairs very well with all types of poultry and also serves as a wonderful aperitif.

points of distinction

  • The higher elevation Te Muna Road Vineyard is harvested about a week later than nearby sites in Martinborough, resulting in grapes with terrific freshness and acidity.
  • Gentle handling with whole-bunch fermentation and delicate French oak Barrique treatment ensures a floral wine which embodies the distinctive, intense fruit characters of the region.
