The Orme Su La Court Art Park
Perhaps the first art park to be installed in vineyards, Orme Su La Court (Footsteps in La Court) is an art walk dedicated to the four elements of earth, air, fire and water that meanders down vine rows, among farm buildings and across the hills of the La Court property in Barbera d’Asti. In this landscape, as in the winery, the fruit of nature comingles with the fruit of human ingenuity to inspire the senses.
Designed with the help of Genovese artist Emanuele Luzzati, the path begins and ends at the property’s farmhouses, where exhibitions are mounted and films are shown. The property includes areas for meditation and an observation tower where visitors may take in a 360-degree view of the surrounding hills and vineyards. Along the path are sculptures sited in nature, notably “Le Teste Segnapalo” (Pole Heads), which are ceramic heads mounted on poles at the ends of the vine rows, reminiscent of similar heads that were once hung in this countryside to ward off any negative influences on the vines. Throughout the season, shows and performances, talks and tasting events are scheduled to engage visitors in the worlds of wine and art.
