Bodega Don Olegario is an artisanal winery begun by Adolfo Falcón in the 1950s in the Val do Salnés subzone of northwest Spain’s Rías Baixas DO. By the 1980s, Adolfo’s son, Olegario Falcón, had developed the estate into a top producer of Albariño, the region’s most famous variety. It is for Don Olegario that the bodega is named. Today, the third generation of the family, consisting of María, Roberto Carlos, Fernando, Vanessa and Mónica Falcón, taps a blend of technology, tradition and experience to produce one of the top wines of the region. Bodega Don Olegario remains one of very few single estates in Rías Baixas, where land is often divided among hundreds of growers—allowing the bodega control of its fruit from field to bottle and ensuring a pure expression of the Albariño grape and its terroir.

Albariño and Val do Salnés
The fruit for Don Olegario Albariño comes from a single 12.4-acre vineyard in the Rías Baixas subzone of Val do Salnés. The valley’s proximity to the ocean and bordering mountain ranges, and the vineyards’ exposure and elevation, have built its reputation as the region’s finest winegrowing area. Of the five subzones in Rías Baixas, Val do Salnés was the first to focus on pure varietal Albariño wines produced in a fresh, modern style.
