Michele Chiarlo's Palas Cerequio Barolo Cru Resort Opens in Piedmont
On Sept. 29, 2011, the Palas Cerequio Barolo Cru Resort was inaugurated. Through a blend of tradition and technology, Michele Chiarlo and family have restored an ancient village in the heart of Barolo to create Palas Cerequio Barolo Crus Resort, a luxury accommodation with different suites equipped with every creature comfort for the body and spirit. Surrounded by vineyards, the resort is a place where one can enjoy moments of pure pleasure, a self-contained world that celebrates the culture of Barolo, the prestigious Italian wine and region.
Part of the project for the resort was the renovation of the historic, 18th-century hamlet La Morra, which is situated close to Cerequio, one of Barolo's most famous crus. Located in the heart of Cerequio, the resort is a unique and fascinating place to enjoy an enchanting view over Barolo's most prestigious vineyards.
There are nine generously-sized suites, each with individual wellness facilities, with the rooms dedicated to historical Barolo crus. In an adjoining annex, guests can find over 50 Barolo wines, from producers par excellence, which represent the best of the denomination. Connoisseurs will be able to enjoy the unique experience of comparing Barolos from different crus and producers. Through vertical tastings, connoisseurs can discover the greatness that this wine develops with the passing years. A special cellar holds 6,000 bottles of Michele Chiarlo's Barolos, ranging from vintages 1958-2007. Guests have sixteen fine dining choices, including Michelin-star establishments, traditional restaurants and renowned hotels.
Some 470 guests attended the inauguration, and producers, journalists, restaurateurs and gourmets enjoyed a relaxing evening of food, wine and music.
